Course Description

Course Length = 2 days

This course demonstrates how designers can apply the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis software that comes with AutoCAD Civil 3D to everyday stormwater and sanitary sewer projects.

Topics Include:

  • Watershed and Detention Pond Design
  • Inlet and Pipe Design

Course Outline

Day 1

Pre/Post Development Watersheds and Detention Pond Design

  • Gather Watershed Data for Sites (Pre & Post)
  • Gather Soils Type Information
  • Running Storm and Sanitary Analysis
  • Create a Rain Gauge
  • Create pre & post ponds/sub-basins
  • Calculate Weighted RCN (Runoff Curve Number)
  • Size Detention Pond to account for Peak Flow
  • Create a Stage Storage Table
  • Run Final Routing (post development)
  • Size and Create Outlet Control Structures
  • Reporting

Day 2

Inlet and Pipe Design

  • Building Pipe Parts Lists in Civil 3D
  • Set Storm and Sanitary Analysis/Civil 3D part migration settings
  • Drawing Pipe Network in Civil 3D
  • Working With Pipe Networks in Storm and Sanitary Analysis
  • Pipe Network Reporting in Storm and Sanitary Analysis
  • Re-Importing Pipe Networks into Civil 3D

Prerequisites

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D Fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Microsoft® Windows
