  1. Why are AutoCAD Civil and AutoCAD Civil 3D products being consolidated?
    The civil infrastructure industry has changed significantly in the past year and is facing very challenging times. The economic downturn has put enormous pressure on firms to reduce costs while increasing accountability. Through these challenging times, Autodesk has been listening to our customers’ concerns. What we have heard clearly from customers like you is that you are looking for more value from your software investment and ways to simplify software management.
     
    In response, Autodesk has decided to lower the price of AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software and consolidate our civil engineering product portfolio. We are confident that this will help provide more value to our customers and notably simplify software deployment. With one product, AutoCAD Civil 3D, customers will now have more access to a wide variety of tools needed by civil engineers, technicians, and drafters. In addition, Autodesk can focus its development a single purpose-built product for civil engineering, AutoCAD Civil 3D, helping us to make product enhancements faster and improve overall quality.
     
  2. Will there be a 2011 release of AutoCAD Civil?
    No, no future versions of AutoCAD software and consolidate our civil engineering product portfolio.
     
  3. As a current Subscription contract holder, what future releases am I entitled to?
    AutoCAD Civil customers who hold Subscription contracts that are current as of April 20, 2010 will receive AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 once it becomes available. Customers with multi-year Subscription contracts will continue to receive releases of AutoCAD Civil 3D for as long as their contracts are valid. Civil software are being released.
     
  4. What happens when my Subscription contract expires?
    AutoCAD Civil customers with Subscription contracts that are current as of April 20, 2010 will receive AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 when it is available. When your contract is up for renewal, you can renew your Subscription for AutoCAD Civil 3D to continue to receive future versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D. Contact your local reseller for details on AutoCAD Civil 3D Subscription pricing.
     
  5. What training resources are provided for AutoCAD Civil 3D?
    Because AutoCAD Civil is a subset of AutoCAD Civil 3D, most of the features and tools in AutoCAD Civil 3D will look familiar to you. AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 software includes a collection of tools accessible from the Learning Resources page of the product that can help you get up and running more quickly. These include Getting Started with Civil 3D, tutorials, and best practices. There are also other resources that customers can take advantage of, including webcasts, reseller seminars, discussion groups, consultant programs, and more.
     
  6. What are the differences in system requirements for AutoCAD Civil and AutoCAD Civil 3D? There are no differences in system requirements for AutoCAD Civil and AutoCAD Civil 3D. System requirements for AutoCAD Civil 3D.
     
  7. My Subscription contract has expired. How can I get access to AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011?
    Customers with expired Subscription contracts will need to renew their contracts before April 20, 2010 in order to receive AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011. Customers who do not renew their contracts before this date must purchase an upgrade to AutoCAD Civil 3D to gain access to the product.   8. Must AutoCAD Civil Subscription customers upgrade to AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011?
    No, AutoCAD Civil Subscription customers have purchased a perpetual license to the product, and are not obligated to install AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 once it is available. However, as Autodesk will not be releasing future versions of AutoCAD Civil, Subscription customers are encouraged to install in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 at a time that is convenient for them to take advantage of the new features and quality improvements in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011.
