AMS Announces Launch of QuickScan Bar Code Solution

February 1, 2008 – Fairfield, NJ – AMS, a leading CAD and CAFM software consulting firm, announces the launch of their QuickScan Bar Code software that facilitates on-site space, personnel and asset surveys. Quickscan software interfaces seamlessly with FM:Systems’ Move and Asset Management modules.

The Quickscan solution was originally designed to support AMS’ space survey service, where it was utilized to gather room inspection data. With the increase of wireless coverage and the addition of Pocket PC bar-code scanning hardware, AMS fulfilled customer demand and developed Quickscan into a comprehensive bar coding interface that integrates with FM:Systems’ Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS).

Quickscan provides a number of features that are easy to use. The check-out/in feature allows users to download only the data they need. The synchronization feature allows them to upload the data they’ve gathered and synchronize it with the FM:Space database. Views for the PocketPC are configurable by the customer. A quick find feature allows users to easily search and find a specific asset on the PocketPC. Once found, the data can easily be updated via drop down menus and simply scanning the asset. New assets can be added by scanning the asset and entering the initial data. Deletions can also be made via the PocketPC with the database being updated upon synchronization.

Because FM:Systems products and modules are highly configurable, AMS was able to develop Quickscan to fully integrate with FM:Interact, FM:Systems web-based facility management software, and their Move and Asset Management modules. Once the data is synchronized back to the FM:Interact database, standard FM:Systems queries can be created to highlight scanned assets, both tabular and graphically. Data can also be imported and exported utilizing standard FM:Systems utilities.

AMS has developed this product utilizing a PocketPC that runs Microsoft Windows, and the Socket SDIO Bar Code Reader, making it a cost effective hardware solution.

AMS CAFM Solutions Division provides full implementation services to interface with FM:Systems Data. This includes the physical scanning of each asset, configuration of the Asset Management module, configuration of views within PocketPC and the configuration of the desktop interface, as well as other comprehensive services that deliver fully operational systems that allows customers to easily and effectively maintain their assets.
